Welcome to Fish Drum Films: Fish Drum, Inc. presents: THE TEN THOUSAND HILLS OF LANGUAGE An installation by filmmaker Leslie Thornton THE 10,000 HILLS OF LANGUAGE is a multi-media spectacle in which the viewer witnesses a phantasmatic breeding-ground of Language. It takes place in a room-size, multiple screen environment. 10,000 HILLS is the latest project developed out of Thornton's 15 year long series of works, collectively entitled PEGGY AND FRED IN HELL. A feature-length series of nine episodes, PEGGY AND FRED IN HELL: THE FIRST CYCLE is in the permanent collections of MOMA, Centre Georges Pompidou, and others. An earlier version premiered at CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporian de Bordeaux in 2000 under the title QUICKLY, YET TOO SLOWLY. LESLIE THORNTON is the recipient of the Maya Deren Award for Lifetime Achievement, the first Aleprt Award in Media, three Rockefeller Fellowships, and numerous other grants and awards. Her works have been included in the Whitney Bienniale and shown in major museums and media festivals worldwide. She teaches at Brown University.
